Personal Branding Photography for Small Businesses

Not a headshot — a working library. You, your space, your craft, in one session.

A branding session is a planned shoot that produces a library — 40 to 80 images of you, your workspace and your work — sized and varied to feed a website, a year of social posts, a press kit and a newsletter. Here’s how to get one that’s actually useful.

Start from where the photos will go

List the destinations first: homepage hero (wide, copy space), About page portrait, service-page images, Instagram (square and vertical), LinkedIn banner, podcast or press headshot, email header. Each has a shape and a job. The shot list is built backward from that list, so you don’t finish with 60 vertical portraits and nothing wide.

The four buckets to cover

  • You, posed: clean portraits, a couple of looks — the reliable headshot and bio images.
  • You, working: candid-style frames of you doing the actual thing — at the bench, on a call, teaching, making.
  • Details: hands, tools, materials, the product, the packaging, the space — texture and proof.
  • Interaction: with a client, a colleague or a customer, if that’s part of the story.

Detail frames are the connective tissue — they fill a feed between the portraits.

Plan the day

A half-day (3–4 hours) covers a single location with two or three outfit changes and all four buckets. Have the space tidied and styled, props and products ready, and a rough two-hour block where a client or colleague can join for the interaction frames. Hair and makeup, if you use it, done before we start.

Wardrobe

Bring three outfits that match your actual brand — one polished, one everyday-working, one on-camera-comfortable. Keep the palette tight so the images sit together in a grid. Same color rules as a headshot: solid mid-tones, fitted, no distracting logos.

How to use the library

We deliver in folders by destination and shape, with web-optimized and full-resolution versions. Drop the wides into page headers, schedule the details and candids across your content calendar, and you’ve got a consistent, genuinely-you look for six to twelve months.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a headshot session?
A headshot session gives you one or two strong portraits. A branding session gives you a varied, sized library — portraits, working shots, details and space — meant to last a year across every channel.
Can we shoot at multiple locations?
Yes, if they’re close — your studio plus a café you work from, say. Budget travel and setup time between them.
Do you help with the shot list?
Always. We start with a short call about your business and where the images need to go, then build the list together.
