The Rainbow Room · 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th Floor, New York, NY 10112
The Rainbow Room sits on the 65th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza: wraparound skyline windows, a revolving dance floor, Art Deco glamour, and an outdoor terrace at the adjacent Bar SixtyFive. The view and its light drive the plan.
What the venue gives you
A round room ringed by tall windows facing the skyline in multiple directions, a chandelier and a revolving floor, Deco metalwork and mirrors, and terrace access with an open-air skyline view. The best interior light is at dusk, when the room glow balances the city.
Where the portraits happen
- At the windows at dusk — the couple against the skyline.
- The terrace at Bar SixtyFive — open-air, wind permitting.
- The Deco interior — mirrors, brass and the chandelier.
- The Rockefeller Center plaza below — a street-level frame before heading up.
Timeline notes
Everything hinges on dusk. Put the couple’s window and terrace portraits in the 20–30 minutes around sunset, and confirm which side of the room faces the sunset for your date. Reflections in the glass need an angle — we work for that. Terrace access and wind are worth checking.
The rain plan
The interior windows still deliver a dramatic skyline, and a rainy or foggy city can look cinematic from 65 floors up. The terrace is the only weather-dependent element.
