Photographing a Wedding at The Weylin

The Weylin · 175 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11211

The Weylin occupies the 1875 Williamsburg Savings Bank on Broadway in Brooklyn — a painted dome, marble columns, gold leaf, and an actual bank vault. It’s Gilded-Age grandeur with a Brooklyn address.

What the venue gives you

A central domed hall with restored ceiling murals, a colonnade, a balcony that gives you a high wide angle, ornate metalwork, a mosaic floor, and the old vault as a portrait nook. Everything is warm, gilded and dramatic.

Where the portraits happen

  • Under the dome, shot upward — the signature frame.
  • The balcony — the whole hall and dome in one frame.
  • The bank vault — steel door, a moody, unusual nook.
  • The colonnade and staircase — marble and gold for tighter portraits.

Timeline notes

Shoot the dome and balcony before the room fills for dinner. The vault and colonnade are usable throughout. It’s all interior and lamplit, so time of day matters less than crowd level.

The rain plan

None needed — the venue is entirely indoors and the whole appeal is the architecture. Weather is irrelevant here.

Frequently asked questions

Is the balcony accessible for photos?
Usually yes — it’s the best vantage for a full-room frame with the dome. We confirm access and grab it early.
How's the light under the dome?
Warm and event-lit. We add light for the couple so faces read against the dramatic gold ceiling.
